Native of the Bordeaux region, Olivier began horse riding at the age of 6. His parents were not from the equestrian world, and he also practised other sports such as football, which he played regularly up to the age of 15, when he had to make a choice between Sunday football matches or equestrian shows. The riding fever took over! He then had a decisive meeting with Dominique Bentejac who took him under his wing and trained him. Olivier Robert became his weekend rider and apprentice, then went riding for two years on the American continent.
Back to France, not being an instructor at heart, Olivier opened a kitchen store, in Libourne, to make a living and continue to ride horses as an amateur. A year later, an encounter with the two horses which would take him to the highest level, Gorky du Theillet and Brakar, made him reconsider his professional career, and Olivier decided to put his focus back on horses. Next, came an encounter with another horse that left a mark in his life, the notorious Inca de l’Oasis, who, in just about six months won the Saint-Lô, Nantes and Lyon Grand Prix shows in 2005. Olivier Robert then decided to permanently dedicate himself to this passion and sold his shop.
